Counseling for Kids & Teens

Ages 2-19

At Compass Whole Health, we know that children and families face all kinds of challenges. Child Counseling can help! Sometimes the things that make our children and the most unique are the very things that can be the most challenging. We understand that each child has their own set of needs, just as much as us adults have our own needs.  So often, we hear that children are so special, and the light of our lives, and yet parents are really struggling to help each individual child with their challenges.  We’ll work to engage you and your child in an age appropriate, supportive manner.

We understand the importance of working with children, utilizing counseling to manage daily stresses, understanding life transitions, and effectively build happy family relationships. We are here to help you and your child!

You and your child can expect to develop and benefit from a warm, caring accepting relationship with one of our highly trained therapists who specializes in working with children. You can expect to participate in the counseling or therapy journey alongside the the therapist and your child. We value all families. It’s always one of our goals to foster healthy child development, self-esteem, and relationship while assisting families in developing nurturing, enriching environments for all their family members

Improve communication between family members.

Kids don’t come with a manual, parenting could be easier if they did! In child counseling we can help you and your child to have open and honest conversations. We offer a safe, trusting space for you both to build a strong and healthy relationship.

Develop family structures, guidelines and processes that will help your family be the best version it can be.

Rules and expectations can be hard to establish and enforce. We can help you and your family to build these structures so you can enjoy more time with your child and less time being the “bad” person.

Learn some new tools and ways to navigate friends, school and bullying.

With technology bullying often doesn’t stop at school anymore. In our child counseling we will work with your child to navigate friendships, build appropriate boundaries, learn ways to address bullying, and focus on making school a positive thing in their lives.

Understand and problem-solve personal or social issues.

Children and teens live in a society where they have always known technology, social media, and the internet. It can be very overwhelming to grow up in this fast paced world we live in. We will help your child and you as a parent problem solve any personal or social issue you might be facing.

Increase understanding of changing family dynamics.

Whether it’s a divorce, new marriage, death of loved one, or changes in the family because of safety or trauma, we can help your child navigate and understand the changing family dynamics and how they are impacted by those changes.
