Getting Started
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable. We’re here to make the process feel easier.
Reaching out for support is often one of the hardest parts of beginning therapy. Many people contact us feeling overwhelmed, unsure where to start, or wondering whether therapy is even the “right” next step.
You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
Whether you are looking for support for yourself, your relationship, your child, or your family, our team is here to help guide you through the process in a way that feels supportive, clear, and low pressure.
How to Get Started
#1
Step One: Reach Out
You can contact our office by phone, email, or through our website contact form.
If you already know which therapist you would like to work with, we can help schedule your first appointment. If you are unsure where to begin, we are happy to help match you with a therapist based on your needs, goals, preferences, and scheduling availability.
#2
Step Two: Complete Intake Paperwork
Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive access to our secure client portal where you can complete intake forms, insurance information, and consent paperwork prior to your first session.
We recommend completing paperwork before your appointment so your therapist can spend more time getting to know you during the session itself.
#3
Step Three: Attend Your First Session
Your first session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to begin getting to know one another.
You do not need to prepare perfectly or know exactly what to say. Many people arrive feeling nervous, uncertain, emotional, or unsure where to begin. That is completely normal.
Your therapist will help guide the conversation at a pace that feels supportive and collaborative.
Finding the Right Therapist Matters
One of the most important parts of successful therapy is finding a therapist who feels like the right fit for you.
Every clinician at Compass has a unique personality, specialty area, therapeutic style, and lived experience. Our team is intentionally diverse so we can help connect clients with someone who aligns with their needs and preferences.
If you are unsure who to schedule with, we are happy to help guide you.
What to Expect in Therapy
Therapy is not about being judged, analyzed, or “fixed.”
At Compass Whole Health, therapy is a collaborative process built on safety, trust, authenticity, and connection. We strive to create an environment where you can show up honestly without feeling pressured to perform wellness or have everything figured out.
Depending on your goals and therapist, therapy may focus on:
• Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
• Trauma and nervous system healing
• Relationships and attachment patterns
• Burnout and perfectionism
• ADHD and neurodivergence
• Identity exploration and life transitions
• Grief and loss
• Communication and emotional regulation
• Personal growth and deeper healing
Insurance & Payment
Many of our therapists are in network with major insurance plans. We also accept private pay and HSA/FSA cards.
If you have questions about insurance coverage, billing, or fees, our office team is happy to help verify benefits and answer questions before your first appointment.
Online Counseling
We offer secure online therapy sessions for clients throughout Washington and Oregon depending on therapist licensure.
Online therapy can be a flexible and effective option for busy professionals, parents, caregivers, students, and anyone preferring the comfort and convenience of meeting virtually.
